Volunteer Guardianship of the person
Provide guidance and support to guardians in managing the personal needs of the ward, including housing, healthcare, and daily living activities.

Supported Decision Making
is a process that enables individuals, particularly those with disabilities, to make their own choices with the assistance of a support network they choose. This network can include trusted friends, family members, or professionals who help the individual understand their options and the consequences of their decisions.
How can we help? We can answer your questions about this alternative, we can provide the support during team meetings and act as an advocate for individuals, we can also provide resources to assist the team in providing supported decision making support.
Key aspects of supported decision-making include:
Empowerment: Individuals are empowered to make decisions about their lives rather than having decisions made for them
Collaboration: It involves collaboration between the individual and their support team to ensure informed choices.
Flexibility: The support can be tailored to the individual's needs, allowing for varying levels of assistance depending on the decision at hand.
Legal Recognition: Supported decision-making agreements can be formalized to ensure that the individual's rights are respected.
This approach promotes autonomy and self-determination, helping individuals lead fulfilling lives while receiving the necessary support.

Advocacy
Provide representation and advocacy to individuals under guardianship, ensuring their rights are protected and upheld.
Explore and promote less restrictive alternatives to full guardianship, such as powers of attorney, supported decision making, authorized representatives, consultations for families, etc.
